DIY - VTEC LED - Issues?
Hey Guys
I got bored last weekend and figured what the hell I will make a VTEC Light from the DIY on the site.
I made the LED and mounted it fine, I tested it and it works as well.
I do have one question / issue, that I am unsure of.
I find that my VTEC kicks in between 2500 and 3000 rpm and stays in from there on up, but only upon excelleration not decelleration.
I thought our VTEC didnt kick in until like 4000 rpm or so?
Anoyone know about this or have the same problem?
FYI - Mine is a 01 Civic Si (CDN) w/auto tranny.
Thanks In Advance

nope, that is normal. vtec kicks at 2500-3000 (depending on throttle position) and kicks again around 4500. I really shouldn't say kicks ... maybe more like taps.
offtopic: holy chit, you are from like a million different forums ... I remember you from therfs.com and there's another one that I remember u from ... but I can't remember which one ... -_-;

Yeah I notice that it kicks in at around 2500 - 3000 rpm but it doesnt kick out and back in again at 4000 rpm +, it just stays in the whole time, our VTEC is only a single stage isnt it?, not like the older ones that are 2 stage air/fuel VTEC. Or an I wrong on this?
Offtopic - Yeah I am an internet ***** ....
, I get around ......... he he ......... I am on a ton of different forums, but this one and my oven forums eccompacts.ca are the main ones.

^^ well I believe there are two stages, as I have seen on a couple dynos. The light will obviously stay on through the 2nd stage because it is still in vtec ... so it's not like it's gonna turn off then back on or anything ;P

I could be wrong. Maybe thats why it comes on at 2500 - 3000 rpm and stays on the whole time, oh well, I was just curious more than anything. I thought that VTEC kicked in at like 4000 - 45000 rpm and on, but it would make sense if it was 2 stage though.
I am going to post pics of the VTEC Light later on when I get the digicam, I love the light, I used a high brightness LED from an electronics store (was only $5 CDN) and man is it cool.

Yeah I put mine down in my lower Console right beside my power outlet. I took the black plastic piece out and cut a metal one out and drilled a hole and put the LED in it, that way its not in my face all the time, but its still bright at night.
