Direct Power System???
Direct Power System???
I was wondering if anybody has ever heard of these guys or knows if this thing will actually work or not. http://www.k-g-racing.com/usa/

It's very interesting that they have different types. This product is the original voltage stabilizer system. I have the hyper voltage system, which is similar but newer. Apexi soon followed and has their own version of it. You wanna buy the vtec version and tell us how it is? I got my HVS and didn't notice too much difference.
The car battery is perhaps the biggest freaking capacitor you will come across. It will smooth out any ripples. It will also dump current at rates well beyond any puny box you can bolt on. These boxes are glorified capacitor arrays, albeit over inflated capacitor arrays. If you are looking for bolt on performance, this isn't it.

Not necessarily. There were some good articles about how the Toyota OBDII ECU functions over at [link]http://www.autoshop101.com[/link]. One thing of particular interest was that the injector duty cycle, and ignition timing for the next cycle were partly calculated from battery voltage (as well as all of the other sensors of course). This means if the voltage is low, its going to effect how the car runs.
A regular lead acid battery is acually a very good conductor - but there is still internal resistance present (ESR = equivalent series resistance). Some capacitors have LESS ESR than a good battery. This means its going to be able to move more current, quicker than the battery. So if there is a moment when there is a voltage sag, and current is needed - the cap can respond faster than the battery.
I'd say these need more testing (with emphirical data) before actually dismissing anything....
