Adding velocity to intake ?
Adding velocity to intake ?
Wouldnt reducing the curved tube that mounts onto the throttle body add more power? Say a 3 inch intake and a 2-2.5 taper onto the throttle body.
I tried 2 different sizes, one was the same dia of the intake and the other a half inch smaller inner diameter but the outside dia was the same for easy attatchment and it makes more power.

tryin to do something like the V2 huh? with the two diameters (bigger then smaller leading to the throttle body) im guessing it would compensate for flow AND velocity. flow gives high end while velocity gives low end. when the air hits the smaller diamter, itll probablyaccelerate since it will have to conform to the smaller diameters.
but remember, adding too small an opening at the TB (source) could hinder airflow since at a certain point, there would be too much velocity and too little airflow.
you have to find a reasonable compromise between the two. stock airboxes promote more velocity than flow with therestricted areas inside the box, small filter and small opening. openelement filters (cai, sri) promote flow over velocity, since the open filter element throws low end torque out the window with very little vacuum pressire that is present with enclosed filters.

its good that you are actually usuing your brain with this stuff instead of "just buy an intake" comments, not that you say that. i compliment you even tho my english construction is bad.
heres a pic of my super-ghetto intake that has two diamters.

You need a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG nozzle for it to work. A plumbing collector is too short of a reducer and it'll just cause recirculation zones, which inturn will actually reduce the inlet area to a size even smaller than the pipe, and slow it down since theres air basically moving "in reverse".

Well you want smooth airflow (for speed) up until the intake main, where the air should become turbulent for better combustion.
I like skarteez's intake, but it looks like it may not do the job as well as an aftermarket one.
