Synthetic oil and VTEC engagement issues?

I did some research and sqw that there have been some complaints that the synthetic oil properties will sometimes effect the oil pressure and its viscosity properties will not allow VTEC to engage properly. Does anyone have any experience with this? i have been using it since 2000 miles and I have 4500 on it now. Im tempted to go back to dino oil since VTEC seems to be pretty touchy when it comes to oil pressures and levels.

i dont know the way vtec works fully, but since its rpm based.. i dont see why oil pressure would have any affects, since there are so many variables that can change oil pressure. just seems to me like a sensor monitoring rpm would report to the ecu and then activate the vtec solenoid at a set rpm, which really wouldnt have anything to do with the lubrication system. i could be wrong though

well, forget my reply, i was thinking of my 00si i use to own, which was rpm based. now everything is variable so you could be right

i-vtec isnt rpm based its oil pressure and like 3 other things. so i could see the viscosity messing with it but ive never heard of n e thing like it.

Where did you hear this? Synthetic oil is fine. Just choose a good viscosity.

You can use anything that isn't too thick or too thin. Run thinner in the summer if you live in changing climate. 0w-30, 5w-30, 5w-20, 10w-30, etc. Somewhere around there.
