Okay quick battery issue, PLEASE HELP Me!!
here the story:
My car wouldnt start 2 weeks ago, it would always need a jump in the morning, and even during the day after slight driving. I had the battery tested and it could not hold a charge. So i went to PepBoys and bought a brand new Optima Yellow Top Battery.
This is now a Week later and my car still has trouble starting. THERE IS NOTHING SHORTING OR DRAINING MY BATTERY. i have not put anything new in the car for a long time, like within the last 6 months. I recheckd alot of my wiring, and everything is taped up good. I even removed the fuse from the Main powerwire powering my amps etc, to help figure out whats going on.
*The Yellow Top they gave me looked kinda dusty and old.
*When i put the brand new battery in the car, The car still did NOT start. The battery was completely dead (Optima Yellow Top, Brand new). IS this normal for a brand new battery to be UNCHARGED?
Could it be that my Yellow Top Battery is Defective? SHOULD I have been able to pop in the brand new battery and have the car start off of it?
there is no problem with my charging system/alternator.
So my conclusion is i had bad luck and bought a BAD battery? I dont think it could be anything else.

Well it didnt look used per say, it was just dusty looking. As if it was sitting back there for a LONG TIME. Not only that, it was the Last Optima Yellow they had. It still had its wrapper, handle, and terminal caps on it.
i seriously think i just got a bad battery.

Started up first time after install. It cranked more than the usual 3 times, but it always does that the first time after disconnecting the battery. You got a bad battery.
bring it (your car) to wal-mart..
let them install their ever-last battery...see if it's gonna work normally again or not....
also, take out ur old stock battery and that optima yellow to advance AP or pep boys...let them check and re-charge them....
do a trickle charge to ur old stock battery....slow charging process...it might do the trick..
also, just to make sure....
check all of ur fuses.....cabin n' engine...

*yea so i exchanged my battery at pep boys for a BRAND NEW OPTIMA YELLOW TOP.
GUES WHAT!! that battery was also NO GOOD. the Service manager tried to blame it on my grounding or alternator system. So i convinced him to test both batteries Independantly on the battery testing machine. THEY BOTH TESTED BAD!!! only 6 volts under load.
So i got my money back and when to a different PepBoys. They PRE TESTED my NEW OPTIMA YELLOW battery, and it was 11.6 volts under load.
Eh, i must have madd crazy bad luck to get TWO BRAND NEW OPTIMA YELLOW TOPS, that are both DEFFECTIVE and cant hold a charge.
well im now in my 3rd Optima yellow top in less then 2 weeks. I guess the 3rd times the charm. ALL IS GOOD NOW ,THANK GOD!

yea everything is lovely, the optima battery works great!
I leanred a new life lesson, everytime you buy a new battery HAVE IT TESTED AT THE STORE BEFORE YOU PAY FOR IT!!!

The thing about batteries is that they are supposed to be a rotated stock. Optima batteries are pretty expensive and don't sell that often. when a battery sits for a long time and then is put under load before properly charged the lead packs inside can warp which causes dead cells and that makes it put out such crappy voltage. Thats my take on it
