Exhaust?

I am looking for a good exhaust for my 1997 Honda Civic Ex. I have been looking on ebay and I have found some in the price range from about $150-$400. I am wanting to spend roughly around $200. I am looking for more on the performance side other than the sound. Here is my questions though. All of the exhaust systems I have found are called "cat-back" exhausts does that me that they inlcude the cat converter or does it mean that it is the piping from the cat back? Also, is there anyway that I can get a cool exhaust system and do away with my cat converter?

The piping is from the cat back. Which means your stock cat stays and the exhuast hooks up right after it. You want performance and you only looking to spend 200. Do it right, Invest the money so you don't get one of this high pitched annoying whining cars that I hate. Look into Tanabe the Super Racing Medallion cat-back that is what I have and it sounds great and gives beeter hi end power. Also take a look a greddy. Hope I could help
Oh yeah if you get rid of the cat you might have trouble passing emissions. I don't know where you live but you might want to check on it. Usually you will not pass. If you get a collectable plate for your car you can get rif of the cat but you normally need to do a major engine swap for this and the car has to be used for shows.

if you are looking for around $200 get a custom exhaust. If you do away with your cat that will be illegal unless you get a hi-flow cat.

This is the only place I could find a high Flow cat
http://thecivicstore.com/Merchant2/m...y_Code=HIFLCAT

Just copy and paste, if it doesn't work just go to www.thecivicstore.com
and click on exhaust it will be the last one. I really didn't do an indepth search so you might want to check around. I don't know how good the product.
