Help with homemade induction on 04 EX.
Help with homemade induction on 04 EX.
The air filter box lays flat over the throttle body and theres no way (yet) to add an intake diret to it as you could on the sideways throttle bodies. I have a piece of PVC that fits pretty snug into the filterbox hole. When i add the intake tube and filter theres some up and down movement because there is a 45 degree elbow coming out of the airbox and its attached to the intake tube and filter that goes behind the battery. If i dont secure it it will eventualy slide out of the box so i fixed that by adding a set screw on the inner part of the PVC just after it goes into the box to keep it from moving out. My problem is since theres some up and down movement it rattles. If I secure it to a bracket somewhere it doesnt move th the movement of the enging and still rattles. Any ideas how i can secure this thing? I was thinking of gluing it into the opening but if i ever want to go stock im screwed.

yeah go save up $200 for a 'real' intake. you'll probably get more power outta the home-made thing due to the fact that its plastic and wont absorb so much heat. what's wrong with pvc pipe? it can be painted with a little custom work it could actually turn out pretty good. to asnwer your question. perhaps put some cushioning around the pipe that goes into the hole maybe like a silicone sleeve or if that too thick wrap it with some tape or something a few times to give it that extra thickness. just an idea
ooooo i did this toooo
i used zipties to tie the end of the tube to one of the cables (positive battery). itll hold it up.
my pipe was just a replacement of the resonator box, using botht he stock airbox/filter and inlet tube.
there is actually a growl-type sound when i get on it. and there seems to be no power change from stock. plus, you can say you made it

I have a custom intake. And though it isn't great, it does the job. PLEASE DO NOT USE PVC!!!! It can burn and give off noxious fumes!! Use steel exhaust piping.
