i was just fooling around and did this and car feels abit faster and i nevergot a check engine light, i know that the egr valve sends back the exhaust fumes into cylinders and exhaust gas is hot so shouldnt the car run betterwith it unplugged ? anyone know anyting about this

Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve.

EGR valve main job is to control the recirculation of exhaust gas. A small portion of exhaust gas is introduced into the cylinders when the engine is under light and moderate loads. During idle and wide-open throttle conditions, the EGR valve is closed.

The introduction of exhaust gas into the cylinders lowers peak flame temperature. When the temperature of the burning fuel mixture in the cylinders exceeds 2500F, it forms NOx. NOx is not good for the environment. If your EGR valve is not working you will fail air care in Canada. It’s important to have an EGR valve it is nature friendly and will make your engine last longer. Because it will run cooler with an EGR valve. Removing your EGR will not give you more HP.

whey would i want hot dirty exhaust gases going back into my engine but it does make the car faster, i ran it unplugged for a while and car never overheated or felt worse it felt better got a check engine light but i always get one from high flow car anyway.

now when out engines get hot do they run worse because i got my fan 2 fans hook up 2 spin all the time even when the ac is off, thinking of putting in some leaded 110 octane tonight for races

car definately feels much better until the check engine light comes on just enough time 4 a few runs, if there is a way to have it disconnected and not get check engine light that would be nice , i heard you can damage cylinder by disconnecting egr valve is this true anyone ?

Your hot and dirty exhaust still has unburnt fuel in it and you computer knows this and adjusts thing to match. like it was stated @ idle and @WOT the egr valve is closed and wont screw with performance. it is only open @ cruse when perfromance isn't an issue. It will mess with your O2 sensors until it cant take it and go into LHM (Limp Home Mode). this will also happen when running an aftermarket hiflow cat or a no cat test pipe on an OBD 2 car but that can be fixed with an O2 sim. But the .4 HP gain (if at all) isn't worth screwing up you motor and with all the part there are for these cars to make proven power.

on a second note racing gas in a motor with a comp ratio under 11:1 will not make more power and if the octane its over 115 like it is here. you motor may even be slower because it wil have troulbe light the fuel mixture. stick with 93-91 and save your money for power parts.
plus running both fans will pull more power and amps from the batt. robbing power from the motor, more than you will make from you blocked egr

Later
Unstable

How did you set up your fans to turn on? I run a little hot at times under idle (when waiting for the turbo timer to count down). This sound like a simple fix to keep it cooler.

hi, How did you unplug the EGR valve? did you just unplug the wiring cables or did you take out the whole EGR? I'm curious, as my EGR is giving me problems again.

Exhaust gas getting pulled back into the engine is inversion and usually a BAD thing. This could happen when both intake and exhaust valves are open, and gas from the header is sucked back in (a definate possibility if the header ports are smaller than on the cylinder head). The stock setup is controled and probably won't cause this inversion effect. If anything, it will increase gas mileage from reusing spent fuel.
