Question Unbreakable

I'm thinking of buying the Unbreakable which locks the Brake or the Clutch. Does anyone have this? Does it really work?

I heard brake locks work amazingly well. But what is the deal with the little key under our steering wheel? How hard is it to get the car started if you take that key with you? Im assuming its pretty difficult, thats why i have that key hooked up to my key chain so i take it with me all the time.

I'm surprised that only one person mentioned piezo sirens...my installer who's doing my alarm next week offered me one and didn't even call it a piezo siren....his term for it is "pain generator". He said he does his loud to the point that if it goes off and you're in the car, you simply can't move.

And what happens if you accidentally set off the alarm while working inside the car? I've done it a few times. I'm not going that far.

What about a killswitch guys? I've had my 04 Civic for about 2 months now, and there's lots of thiefs around my area. I'm pretty sure they've spotted my car already but since I haven't done much to it, they are not interested at this time. I'm thinking about putting an alarm with all the gizmos and hidden stuff mentioned here, but I'd like to do something more than just that. Any tips on killswitches?? Thanks a lot for all your posts; they really help a lot.
Mike.

The back-up siren/battery should have a key that can be easily used if the alarm is trigerred by accident.

I posted the link on my previous reply on where to buy them.

shave the door handles then replace your side windows with a strong lexon.. then they cant break them windows either

watch the punk nail it a few times as it bounces off.
lock your hood if oyu can.
i plan to buy a cheap sirena nd put it under the hood
then run the real one (two of which) and place one under the front and one under the rear bumpers
or more or less inside them.

i keep mine in a garage.. the thieves here are morons an das far as know they cant swipe the new civics with the cut off in the ignition.. yet.
small town though.

im 45 mins from the car theft capital of canada.. WOOHOO

The Club is a Shi##y investment..is used on one of the weakest parts of your car. the stearing wheel is actually hollow. so when your face hits is (assuming you dont have srs airbags) it will bent....the only suggestion i have to protect your stuff is to protect the car first...i live in Las Vegas and alot of the problem out here is engine parts.. mainly bolt-ons being ripped off.. if you have hood pins LOSE THEM GET LOCKIN PINS..and theres this thing out called the Unbreakable auto lock..its a club like device that goes over your Clutch/ break and you pull up a handel that pulls up a steal bar , keeping the better theivs from stealing the entire car...i like the double alarm thing too..but if you get a good alarm its over kill...Venom makes one of the best ones...it costs about 600 bucks but it comes w/ a key ring devise that tells you when and what part of your car is being broken into.also invest in Lo-jack.. if your car is stolen you call the cops. and within 15 min. your car is found...if its not found.. low-jack re-emburst your up to 20K. The unbreakalbe thing does work.. i have it. along w/ lo jack as well..

diy alarm system is very difficult if you're not skilled with wires and such. Best to have a certified installer do it right. You can cause alot of problems trying it yourself.

Bringing back the dead!

Well I just got my 350 dollar kenwood deck jacked the other night, during a 30 minute window of time. As a result I hopped on here to research alarm systems. Right now I plan on running two batteries, and two sirens, as well as using hood and trunk locks. My friend also told me that he can use metal straps to tie down the deck. Anyway, hope everyone is keeping their stuff safe!

forget about alarms. Have one in there for fun, but it really won't keep your deck in there. The straps are a good idea. Mine can be pulled out with the entire console in a few seconds. Convenient for me, but not good if someone tries to steal. But then again I have a new strategy. My new deck is a $200 alpine, and the only other equipment is a $200 alpine amp in the trunk, both of which are easy to remove. So hey at least if they steal everything I'm only out $400. Whole lot better than spending $2k plus and having it all gone. Only real security I have is shaved trunk (no keyhole, remote popper only) and alarm with backup battery.

You know the best way to do it would be no system (or stock deck plate hiding aftermarket). That way there is no worry and you can still upgrade speakers, amps, even subs and nobody will know.

Btw sorry for your loss. I've had a deck stolen from my old car and it does suck. Thats hard earned money working at video store to get it.

Yeah, the metal ties won't really help, on my g/f's 1995 Civic EX they actually removed almost the entire front dash, well, broke the entire front dash and pried the deck out. If someone is inclined to use brute force it would be better to allow them to steal it in a more simple manner, its not worth having an entire dash screwd up and whatever else the guy breaks because he's pissed he can't get your deck out then a $200 stereo.

Thanks man. I was kinda on the fence but once I started thinking about it, I realized that even though everything is still pretty much stock in my car and I live in the middle of nowhere, there's always some dumb thug looking to make a quick buck by stealing anything they can get their grubby little hands on. I wasn't sure what the first major investment I was going to put into my car would be, but now it's definitely goin' to be a decent alarm system. Thanks again.

This is one post that shouldn't be allowed to die. Everybody's gotta know about this.

Yea, building a facade out of my stock deck is definitely on the to do list. Just slide it on whenever I get out of the car.

since everyone in my town is retarted i am pretty comfortable with the oem alarm, and the trunk locked.
only person I know who had stuff stolen was in an old avenger with no trunk lock (put in a screw driver and turn) and no alarm parked on the street every night in a shady part of town. some people lost stereos over the summer but the (one) guy who was doing it would break the drivers side window, open the door, pull the HU out and run. Nothing smart here. he was pretty bad at it too.

Whoever did mine was a pro. Passenger window smashed, no scratches on ANYTHING, entire center piece was removed (including heating controls), no wires were cut, and he found and stole my digital camera without pulling everything out of my glovebox and center console. All this was done around 10 o clock at night, 20 feet away from one of the busiest streets in Denver. Then to top it off he took my jdm air freshener.

like I said that center piece pulls right out. Just clips hold it in. I just stick my fingers in the pocket and yank her out. Ya that sucks tho. Where did you hide the camera, inside center console under the ebrake? thats where my reg papers are but you have to pull off that middle part where the pocket is.

Well my camera actually wasn't hidden, but it was buried under a ton of crap in the center pocket, and the thieves found it without pulling everything out. They also grabbed a bottle of prescription drugs, only to leave it behind when they found out there was no more adderall in it.

Did anybody ever buy this stuff for protecting your glass?

http://absoluteglassprotection.com/

It sounds like most thieves try to come in through a window. Maybe if the window was stronger than expected, they might move on?

One thing I've done in order for my car to stand out in a crowd if someone sets off the alarm is to install EAR SPLITTING HIGH PITCH ITALIAN AIR HORNS!!! You know the kind that come stock on Ferraris and Lamborghinis etc? You can also get a cheapie set at most auto parts stores, a couple horns, a compressor, and air line. The trick is to NOT mount the stuff somewhere that's easy to get at. If they can just pop the hood locate the compressor or unplug the air line you're through, so mount the horns and compressor way up inside the fenders or somewhere else that is not immediately accessible, route that air line and the wiring in as concealed a way as possible, along the routes of other stock things helps camouflage, and use this instead of stock horn or alarm siren (or along with them) you will not believe the way heads turn!! These things are brain shattering LOUD, loud does not even begin to describe it, and a lot less common to hear FIAMM Italian air horns blasting off than "just another" horn or alarm siren. Those things are so damn loud they'd make anyone but the most hardened criminal instantly **** himself! Just another idea for you all

Oh yeah, and one more beauty part, you can hear those air horns going off yourself from a mile away - almost like a pager in themselves!

One thing to keep in mind though is that the compressor will draw more current than a normal siren or horn, so you will want to route power through a relay as opposed to just hooking your trigger line straight to it
