Positive terminal for power, and for the gound, I used the rare strut bolts, so sounds like ur good.

Just attach the ground to bare metal first, then hook up the power to the battery. You should also have a fuse within 12 inches of the battery on the power wire.

my amp is not working properly, when i turn the level on the amp just barely up the LED turns redand the sub stops working. Or if i get level high and i turn up my stock head unit, the sub cuts out stops working... my gf has the same car, setup, sub amp, and hers you can adjust boost and level and turn stock head unit volume all the way up and it pounds. what could be wrong?

what gauge wire are you using to wire the amp?.
Use at least 8 gauge wire

8 guage... the amp turns on fine so its not the remote wire

get a volt meter and make sure that you are recieving a full 12 volts to your amp when it hits, make sure you ground is tight and touching bare metal not paint, make sure your remote is secure, when you are setting your amp, you need to make sure also that your bass on your cd player is 0 or down to -6 or however log it goes, that way you won't put a lot of unneeded bass on your mids and highs.

What kinda subs do you have? What kinda amp is it. Also how do you have to subs wired, ie what ohm load are you putting to the amp? I know with my RF X-7 if I give it a 1 ohm load it turns the amp off about half way through the volume. I give it a 1.5 ohm load and I can crank it as loud as I want.

im getting 12 volts just fine. i have a pos Dual amp that i got from best buy its a 2 channel, my sub is a rf punch z and it is a 4 ohm sub, i have the amp bridged and when the amp is bridged it puts out 170 watts rms to a 4 ohm load. i have the negative of the amp connected to negative of the sub and + connected to +... i dunno someone help

Have you tried running the amp without the sub hooked up, to see if it turns off still?

wait i think you have the wrong idea,m the amp doesnt turn off, the sub just stops working and then i have to turn the car on and off to restart the amp to power the sub again

right but it still might be throwing on the protection mode, which means the amp will appear to be on but wont work till you reset it by restarting the car

I'm leaning towards one of two things being wrong. If you are using the factory head unit and the high level inputs on the amp it might be too much gain being inputed into the amp. second idea is that there is a short in the voice coil of the sub causeing the amp to go into protection mode, I have seen both happen.

ok, i got a high to low signal converter and it works somewhat better but the amp still throws into protection mode but its at a much better level, still not at par though

I would say try a different amp if you have access to one, if the same thing happens then you know its the head unit, if it doesnt then you know its the amp. Also try adjusting the gain on the line level converter see if that helps out any
