how to tell?

I could i tell if my torque convert is bad or not? I am have tranny problems just tring to trouble shoot!

What kind of tranny problems?
On one of my old cars, I just had to replace the torque converter solenoid.. it was like, $25

Torque convert failure problems usually = LOW stall speeds. what problem are you having ?

the car just rev's but sometimes it will go. for like a mile or two. i am hearing this awuful screeming nosie

what do u mean by low stall speeds? Im just a litttle confused by that. my cars sometimes stumbles when i hit the gas.

Stall speed is measured by putting the car in gear and foot on brake and flooring the gas pedal. The RPM that it rev's to is your stall speed i think stock is close to 2800-3000 rpm. If you put it in gear foot on brake and it revs to say 3500 Plus RPM then that is a problem. Typicaly would be the transmission clutch packs worn out causing it to slip. Its been the better part of 18 years since ive done tranny work so bare with me
