what would happen if i took the stock ecu from a 01 ex vtec and put it in my 02 dx non vtec? will i still gain power due to the different ecu? will it be like having ex power with out the vtec? i hope this makes sence...thanks...

i really doubt that would help anything, I think the ECU would be confused. It would be trying to activate the Vtec... but its not there. Also the dx only has one 02sensor right? That would probaly mess it up to, because it would be looking for readings from 2.

you can't get the power without the Vtec. Your ECU will act just like your DX ecu. With a Vtec head, than there is no need for it. You bought a DX, if you want to make an EX than you should have bought one. An EX ECU will do nothing for your car, except have extra options within it that your car can't use like VTEC, power interior, AC (if you don't have it installed), etc. So save your money.

ok thanks guys, that all makes sence, i never wanted a ex so thats why i did not buy it, i was cheaper for me to install power locks ect. on my own than it was to buy factory, but hey thanks anyways for the info. oh and my dx has 2 o2 sensors, one on the top portion of the headers and one where my cat would be, but now that i do not have a cat my check engine light is on because both o2 sensors are reading the same.

o ok, I wasnt sure if they had 2 or not. Just get an 02 sim if you dont want the light on anymore, there prety cheep.
