Rep Power: 0 what type of engine?? vin number on engine??
i have a 2001 civic lx coupe. and theres something about my motor and the vin number not clicking together. my vin number is 1HGEM21501L088730, and i read that the 4th-6th number of the vin represent the engine type, EM1 = D17A1 and EM2 = D17A2, i'm not totally sure about that but that is what i have seen from reading on this forum. Problem is that its stating that my engine is a D17A2, but the block stamp on my motor says D17A1, and when i ran up my vin number on AutoCheck it says my car is a 2001 Civic LX.

Rep Power: 0 The number before the last letter, is the year of the car. If you have a non-vtec car (hx, dx, lx) you have a d17a1 engine. The d17a2 engine is for the vtec ex model civic. The em2 is the chasis code for the civic. All civics, except si/sir, is a em2. I'm not sure of the chasis code for the si/sir, but I can look on a si that is here. I'll post it in a minute.
btw, si/sir is a EP3 chasis code. And a rsx is a dc5
