What exactly are you looking for? It takes a couple of things to trip VTEC. Oil Pressure, engine temp, the computer, and the solenoid to lock in the spacer that puts the cam onto the VTEC lobe.

i just replaced the motor with a new one from salvage 8k on the new motor it runs and drives no check engine light only problem is that its not reving past 4500 like its redlining but it dosent do it in gear????

let me correct that when its not in gear it goes to 7k but poppin and wierd noises when im driving in any gear it wont go past 4500 i know its got to be the vtec not coming on for some reason the motor is outta a wrecked car so maybe the solenoid is broken internaly or something? where is it so i can check?
