I just bought a Polyeurathane front lip that has minor scrapes on the bottom and has some paint on it. I need to prep it for painting with my OEM paint. Anyone know any links that I can look at for prep tips?
Also is there some compound that must be sprayed on the poly before painting in order to make the paint adhere properly? Any help is greatly appreciated!

is it brand new? and is it raw plastic or pre primered?
if its raw plastic then there will be a release agent on the part (so that it would come out of the mold easily).
You'll need to heat it up, so leave it out in the sun till its wharm/hot. after that you'll want to clean it with soap and water.
Do that a few times untill its really clean. (4 or 5 times)
then clean it once more with paint thinner. after that, go over it with some scotch brite (to scuff it up) and clean it with the thinner once more. after that its ready for primer.
prime it with a plastic primer (it shoud be flexable primer that adhears to plastics well) do an even coat and let it dry, then sand it down a bit with some 500-800 grit sand paper, prime again and sand again. wipe it down lightly with thinner again (you dont want to remove the primer) then its ready for paint.

I checked out the photo...
is the paint peeling?
if it is then you are going to have to sand it all off. other wise it will keep peeling after you've painted it.
if its not, sand it smooth with some 400 grit, then go over it with some 800. Prime and paint.

The paint is peeling. I am going to paint it SSM. I got a guy (friend of my father in law) who customizes harleys that is going to paint it but I want to do the prep because I want it perfect when it gets painted. Thanks for the info
