On my friends SI, his gears feel fairly stiff. Kind of got to put some effort into shifting, where mine go in like the car was still new.

The older Trannys were rod linkage. The new ones are Cable linkage. The rod link trannys are going to feel stiffer and more direct... simply because its a rigid connection rather than a flexible cable. Cable shift has its advantages too... obviously its a little smoother among other things.

my friends old '00 LX sedan vs. my '02 EX coupe is night and day.

His shifter was higher up, longer shifts, and more play. My car is smooth, hits gears better and quicker and feels sportier. My friends 97 LX sedan is the same way as my other's 2000. Pretty much all older Civics Ive driven vs. mine dont compare, I like mine better.

IMO if you want stiffer shifting and less play in the shifter get the revo ss with a bushing kit.
