If you open up the garage door opener, you'll see that all it should be is a chip board, a plastic button set, 2 plastic pieces (top and bottom) and 2 watch style batteries. If you wanted to mold it in to your dash or whatever, you would have to figure out a way that the batteries could stick to the chip board (because the way it regularly is held is by the bottom plastic part pushing it against the metal conductor on the chip), and after you figure out how to keep the batteries to the chipboard, all you would need to figure out is where to put the button in your dash, how to attach the buttons (I think you could figure a way to use any button for it) and how to keep the chipboard directly behind it and well held- so as not to move or fall. It really could be easy if you could soder the batteries to the chipboard, and then put a few pieces of wire behind the chipboard attached to your dash and then drill out 3 openings for the buttons== all in all it's not hard, just play with your garage door opener, open it up and get creative.
i wanna connect it to the switch next to the power-out in front of the center console.
i only need one button so the garage door will be opened when i push the button and it will be closed when i push the button again. thats how my original remote works.
but since i dont wanna ruin my original remote for some reasons, i wanna get that kinda chipboard thing from extra remote.
i searched on ebay and i found some remote that the sellers states the remote can learn the frequancy of any original remote.
i wonder if it really works.

otherwise i think this concept is used in alot of luxury cars, u could maybe find one of those things at a junk yard and try to use those, other wise u could mount the current opener flush somewhere

i think you posted in the wrong forum, maddog_enigma.
I covered this topic a while back, but I got lazy and decided not to do it. If I ever find a freaking junk yard around here I'll take a look at some nissans, lexus', infiniti's, etc etc because I know that those come with the "homelink" buttons on the sun visor. (Maybe I'll steal it from my dads lexus

) If the garage door opener will work a little ways from the door, you could mount it in your front console behind the cigarette lighter. You could mount a switch to the blanks next to it. I'm thinking of putting an inverter back there and putting an outlet and power switch where the blanks are.
1 big and 2 small buttons?
My garage door opener has 1 big button.
why not just put it under the top of your dash (near the windshield) and mold it there so the buttons just stick out? and maybe a little hole inside the car close to the windshield so the beam can get out to open your door?

You can go the cheap route.
Take your garage door opener and put it behind the dash somewhere that you can get to it to change the batteries. Then put a button in front of it so when you push the button it hits the door opener.
Or just get that really strong velcro, like the one used for an EZ-Pass and put the opener somewhere out of sight.
