Changing LEDs for shift indicator?

I'm talking about the squares on the gauges that tell you what gear you're in (auto only). The D, D3 etc light up green with leds in the back. Can I just swap them out for red ones, or is it harder than that?

didn't the 01 come stock red? I don't think it would be a problem

I'm stuck with a sedan that has yellowish-green light. In the process of converting to red, since blue doesn't look right. I'm getting a second cluster soon, so I'm just gonna borrow the red ones from that.
