cant get to bulb on projectors
i have projector headlights and as you all know, you have to change the bulb about every 5 minutes or so, depending on conditions... (im being sarcastic). anyway, i changed the passenger side on a while back, now its time to change the driver side one. but i cant even get to the bulb!! the windshield fluid is in the way, as well as some silver bar thing, and somethign w//a red cap (i know nothing about the engine). if you need pics i will take some. i just need to change this bulb. and the light i am talking about will show up on my signature... its the middle one i am trying to change.
hey i know you said you were only being sarcastic about having to change the blubs in the projectors, but is there some amount of truth to that???? because im considering getting TYC projectors but not if you have to change the blubs more then usual

ive had my projectors for about....4 months or so. ive had to change the passenger side once and now the driver side.... these arent tyc's though. so i dont know if that makes a difference. but i consider that alot because i never had to change my factory bulbs.

oh and i just saw u commented on "my ride".. about the front bumper... it must be just the way the pic looks, cuz its not smooth... two big ole fonky holes because honda makers think everyone in the world wants to put a tacky license plate on the front. and if u live in tx or anywhere that requires one on the front, then the dealership in tx or wherever should put the holes there for you...
The thing with the red cap is the power steering fluid reservoir. If you need room to get your hand in there, you can move the reservoir by popping it off the bracket. Just yank straight up on the whole thing and it will slide out. Don't worry...even the manual tells you to do this if necessary. Then just be sure to replace it after your done and before you start driving because if not it might rub on the belt! lol Good luck.

here are some pics... the thing circled is where the light bulb is located.. i removed the power steering thing, but its more the windshield fluid that is in the way, and also that silver "bar" thing is in the way...

yeah follow impulse's advice.
i had to take off the whole bumper just to replace one bulb.
unless you have a really small hand...

well i'll just have to drive w/one working headlight.... i ordered some H1 bulbs (the white kind) from ebay for a freaking penny, plus shipping... so i'll wait till i get those in, then do the whole bumper thing. i think the people who design this stuff need to be shot in the head.
If you have Matrix halo projectors than you can get the drivers side out w/o removing the bumper. I did it last month. Remove the power steering reservoir, and reach in from behind and under the bracket. I don't know what kind you have, are they the RS ones?

i can somewhat pull off the black rubber thing, but i cannot get the bulb out, and if i would get it out, i wouldnt be able to get the bulb back in. that silver 'rod' is in the way, as well as the windshield liquid. the rod looks like it can snap off, but i dont want to mess up anything..
I have the same projectors and also have to change my bulbs constantly. You DO NOT NEED TO REMOVE THE BUMPER!!!. Just pull out the bottle with the red cap (washing or steering wheel fluid, not sure) and thats it!. It takes some effort, you just gotta wiggle it left and right while pulling up. The bottle is just connected to like a metal plate, not even screws or anything. Just wiggle it out, and youll be fine!!!. I have a 01 LX sedan, and thats how I do it, takes 2min to change my bulbs.
if its because of that "silver-rod" your supposed to push-in than push up. Im guessing its the metal rod in the housing, you should be able to move. You really have to look at it closey. If its another metal rod within ur engine bay, then maybe u have to take of ur bumper, lol. But, I dunno, you should be able to take it out without removing the bumper.

Mine doesn't have that bar (sedan). I would say just take off the bumper and replace the bulbs with OEM from the store. Sylvania, Philips, or other name brand that won't die every month. Lots of people have aftermarket bulb problems in projectors cause they get too hot. Also, your headlight may be getting water in it somehow. Make sure you clean the bulbs with alcohol before putting them in (without touching them).

in my tyc's i had to use long needle nose pliers and surgical precision...lol, it sure beat removing the whole light tho...and for the person who asked about the tyc's...bulb life is pretty good, ive been riding with MTEC 4X for about 2 months now. but before that i had the ones that came with the projectors..i had those for a year and when i replaced them, neither was blown, i just wanted different bulbs.

my passenger side one has condensation in it constantly. i got them resealed, didnt help. but the driver side one doesnt have any in it.. put alcohol on it w/out touching it.. do i just the bulb into a thing of alchohol? or can put the a. on w/a rag or tissue or something
they probably blow often because you're shaking the bulbs up while trying to install them. Don't give me that "Oh I did it perfect/I never touched the bulbs/I didn't bang the glass" junk. You'd need a machine arm to put the bulb in perfectly when the projectors are installed onto the car.
Imp replied earlier. Take the projectors off and then put the bulbs in. Even then it'll be hard to put the bulb in
condesation: make sure you have the rubber caps on all the way. I still have some condensation too in the morning sometimes. I usually drive my car up the driveway and expose it to the sun while heating the car up. Then it goes away.
I get pissed sometimes though. Sometimes I feel like sticking one of those little packets that come in shoe boxes to keep away moisture, into the headlights.
good luck!

Put alcohol on a tissue and wipe the bulb with that to remove any oils or fingerprints. My lights fog all the time (as do everyone else's) cause it's so humid and I still have my sylvania cool blues. When I cleared the headlights, I forgot them inside. Needless to say, they were cooked and dropped. Still worked fine after that and still going strong. But yeah, the bulbs must be clean if nothing else.

if you ordered h1's for a penny thats what your going to get . you will be replaceing them in another month
and they will not look white they will look just like stock bulbs. just thought i would address that since noone else was going to say anything. its worth the money to go with mtec, piaa, polarg, phillips, syllvannia, hell even eurodesigns are pretty good.. sorry to tell you..

oh no biggie. i get the bulbs at a local parts store anyway, and pay about $8 a piece... so 2 crappy bulbs for the price of one is worth it to me. doesnt matter. not liek im paying $50 for crappy lights
