Factory Stereo Code
Just wanted to share this discovery with everyone. Don't know if anyone has posted this before. I recently replaced my headlights. To do this, I had to disconect the battery. This made my stereo go ape ****. It kept saying I needed to insert a security code. I went back to the dealship where I bought the car and they contacted Honda. Honda came up with this story about security and how the code makes the stereo worthless if it was ever removed from the car. They wanted to charge me $200 to remove the stereo so they could get the serial number and the they would be able to give me the code. If I removed it myself, it would cost me $100 for the code. What they don't tell you is that all you need to do is hold the ! and 6 button in on the stereo when you are starting the car. The stereo flashes 4 numbers. If you give these four numbers to the dealership, they can give you your stereo's code. Hopefully this info helps someone like it helped me!

Your Honda dealer must suck, because your salesperson is required to explain to you what the radio I.D. code card is for, and to keep it in a safe place but not in your car. Look in your owners manual packet, there should be a card with your radio ID number on it. Then your owners manual tells you how to reset it.
I can't believe that they would put the number on the inside of your fuse box cover, that kind of defeats the purpose, all a thief has to do is grab your fuse box cover after he steals your stereo.

I didn't by the car at a honda dealer. I got it second hand and it didn't have the card thingy. I tried to give them the Vin # but they would do that either. They said something about a new company policy where they can't give that info over the phone. They were basically being asses. Oh well. The fuse box thing is helpful too! I just wanted to let people know incase they ran into the same problem!
I had the same issue last week...where the service guy said he cant give me the code over the phone....i yelled called the sales guy and he then gave me the info over the phone...
If it is on the fuse box cover.,..what a damn WASTE!
