and while on the subject of lighting, how does the brightness of the amber led cluster turnsignals like the ones at superbrightleds.com compair to the brightness of stock lights?

Just take the light apart or read the manual, then you'll see.
I believe it's the same as either the parking light or the front turn signal light.
LED is usually brighter than conventional bulb.
