That's a 7th gen, and I believe that's also a B-series motor. It looks the part anyway.
It legally has to be a 2001. That way, he could swap in a 2001 GSR (Integra) engine and still be in accordance with the law.

The motor cannot be older than the car. A 2001 car can take 2001 or newer engines.
However, when dealing with kit cars, the rule goes by the original year the car was manufactured. A Lotus Super7 kit car can have just about any engine - even if the car was made in 2003 - since the original car was made so long ago.

based on radiator and engine bay design.. im saying its a 5th or 6thgen... single core radiator... and front supports are different shape than 7thgens... not to rain on your parade.,... there is a kit (hasport) coming out any day now that will make b-series possible... and it depends on where you live for legality.. here i can pu a 72 motor in my car if i wanted.. noone checks

Yeah, you know, the bend in the metal that runs all the way from the taillights through the door handles and ending at the front fender.
