DIY: Blue Dash Lights
they dont sell the condoms alone. I went to ford this morning and what you have to do is order the replaceable lights for the switches in the door of a 1995 ford probe. it cost me 21 bucks with tax and you get 4 little bulbs and they have this "condom" like covers on them. feels like a rubber baloon. you take those off and slide them over the bulbs in your dash. you have to remove the middle dash piece first. then you gotta peel off all that red stuff and red stuff off the buttons. then take a phillips head screwdriver and you see the white round piece. you twist it and it comes out. put the blue cover on it and put it back in its housing. plug in and light up. blue blue blue. well greenish blue. but i like it better then orange red. next i gotta get behind my gauges and put the "condoms" on the lights behind gauges. gonna look all fordish and stuff. I wonder how the volkswagen system works. They have a great color of blue. I wonder if they use bulb covers or blue lights? if they use bulb covers then im gonna get me some volkswagen lights.
Is it greenish blue like turquoise? I'm assumming if you get the clear/blue LED's that they look more blue... right? I'm going for a turquoise theme in my car so if the greenish blue looks more like turquoise then I'm just going to put over the bulb covers.
considering that the bulb covers came from ford it looks just like the interior lights of a
ford
if you wanna know what it looks like go sit in a 1995 mustang or probe or any ford in 1995. hell i think the brand new fords use the same covers still. it looks the exact same color as that. hooking up leds in place of the lights is not an easy thing to do. and once its done i dont know how easy it would be to go back to oem.

so its about 20-25 bucks for this kit from ford, eh? hmmmm, id rather hear more about getting info on how to do blue dash DIY in the color of VWs. those dashes in VWs look SICK!! im gonna look into this tomorrow. if anyone comes up with any info on this, please post ASAP!
Yeah I definitely want to hear more about the VW lights. My buddy has a 2001 Jetta 1.8 turbo. Those lights are sooo TIGHT. If its possible to do it I am for sure going to, but if its not im going to go all blue lights in interior. How hard would it be to do the dome and reading lights as well? I have a sedan.
dude its not hard at all. if you can pump gas into your car then i am sure you can do this. all you do is take out the middle console. its so simple. just take out the buttons peel the red sticka off and put bulb covers on the bulbs. put back in and done.
i turned my dash blue and i just used a clear blue folder that i found at Hobby Lobby. U just take the red out and trace it on the blue...super glue...and its there

ok people if you want blue dashlights then you either have to replace the LEDs (big pain in the ***) find some blue blue bulb covers(impossible) or go to this DIY and change them to blue
