correct. You have to break it off. Ppl say you can take it off without breaking it. But all body shops break it they just buy new ones. use 3m double sided tape to stick it back on.

No no no!! Just open the trunk and look in the back. You should see 2 little things that stick out that holds the H logo. All u need to do is just push it from the back and there u go.

Yeah you don't have to break it off! Just get some dental floss and floss in behind the emblem and it should come off. This method works for all the emblems.

actually i think you may be wrong..

yes you are right about using dental floss on the other ones, but on the rear there are 2 prongs going to the inside of the trunk..

you just tap those out and out comes the emblem..

i dont think see why you would sand down those prongs with dental floss!

the front emblem and the back emblem both have little silver pressure tabs that hold them on you pop those loose with plyers or by pressure and you are good to go . I just swapped my front grill with a carbon fiber one and had to move my emblem over and found this out.

I know about the two ***** but the rest of the emblem is held on by double sided tape. Just floss from the top to the middle (where the two ***** are) then start from the bottom and floss up to the middle (again to the two *****).
That'll loosen the whole emblem, from there you can push it out from behind.

Is there anything we can do to prevent people from taking them? or ist that just useless cause they thieves will only scratch the paint as they struggle (and maybe scratch other parts in frustration)?

mine never had any tape on them so I guess it depends on the area you get your car from

so i can take off the 'civic' and the 'ex' emblems altogether; no clips? Also, im going to take off the dealer logo; is this a good idea? i.e., will it take the paint off too?

be vewy vewy quiet....its wicer hunting season....

The paint won't come off if you're careful. Just heat it up with a hair dryer and then peel that sucker off

You'll also want to use Goof-off/goo gone and maybe wax that area...just in case.

i have an important question. I need to stick the "900" emblem back onto a Saab 900S, and I dont know what adhesive to use. THere is no background; there is nothing in the middle of the 0's. This makes me think that a spray adhesive would work best; what can I use that will 1) not show even in the empty areas in the middle of the emblem and 2) not damage the paint. Thanks

Oh crap.. I thought our rear emblem was just glued on like the others. I didn't know there were pins holding it down! I was just gonna remove mine!

you can remove it, but you have to have the gaps filled in. All the emblems other than the H can be removed easily with no holes, though.

new problem; the tape is really thick, and the 900 is now sticking out from the car. i.e. it is not flush with the car. How can I fix this? Someone in another thread said something about some goo in a toothpase-type bottle, maybe that will work better.
