OK, this isn't really a DIY, but I heard this from a bunch of people I know and I wanted to see what you people had to say about it. Flames coming out of your exhaust are cool; and a lot of people want to easily have them; even though they're illegal. The solution? Have an on/off switch! Here's what you do; it's really simple.
1) Get any spark plug
2) drill a hole so that the plug will fit snugly in
3) secure the plug (bolt? I dunno, i havent done this)
4) hook up + and - wires to the plug, but before hooking the + up to power source, take it through a switch in the driver's area. Take the - to any grounding point
5) voila! Turn on the switch and the spark plug will ignite your exhaust fumes!
So, what do you think?

Or you could just buy:
http://www.gotflames.net/
http://www.autoloc.com/products/flame.lasso
http://www.hotrodsetc.net/flamekit.html
or one of the other nameless kits out there....they all do essentially the same thing....
Oh yeah, you probably got your idea from the anarchists cook-book, which is where I originally read it!
I remember one that had some sort of propane or something as well, can't remember the name.....

i didnt try it on my car because I wanted to see if it worked. From what I've read from you guys and the links near the top of the page, I don't think it'll work with our cat.

you have to do more than just remove the cat. you're gonna have to make the car run rich...very very rich so you actually have something to ignite in the tail pipes. or i've seen cars that have some sort of propane tank in their trunks and when they flip a switch, the exhaust fills up with it and the spark plug ignites the gas.
