our vehicle have 2 o2 sensors, 1 before and 1 after the cat. the 2nd 02 sensor is to check make sure the cat is functioning correctly.
when you put a high flow cat in replace of it, or run a straight pipe, the after-cat o2 sensor will read malfunction to the catalytic converter. thus, throwing a code and check engine light comes on.
the o2 sim is there to prevent that from happening by fooling the o2 sensor that everything is working correctly.
how it accomplish that? i really don't know. maybe it changes the voltage of the signal from the o2 sensor back to the ecm.

Um okay, you're new so I'll answer your question. The O2 sim is for people like me, who have replaced their catalytic converter with one that doesn't have the original oxygen sensor. It basically sends a message to the car's ECU telling it that the oxygen levels are normal. It SIMULATES an O2 sensor, which comes stock with the car. NO, IT DOES NOT ADD HP!!! All it does is send the correct readings to your car's computer. But if you have your stock cat, then don't even worry about needing one.

dood.. thats just a resistor... basically an o2 sensor works by producing a current for the amount of o2 that is in your pipe... o2 simulators dont completely replace the o2 sensor because there are 4 wires that go to the ecu.. or something like that, one registers how much o2 is in the pipe at the time(voltage) and the other registers heat from the o2 sensor... my o2 simulators that im starting to make is a little box that splices DIRECTLY onto the ecu ive driven with it in my car for a week now and no signs of the check engine light for that, and the air/fuel mix is still fine(from the smell of the exhaust fumes)
if u need an o2 sim, PM me

Hey dude I noticed that nobody said where you could buy one so here it is. bigjoshracing.com sells them for sure cos I just bought one with a header and highflow cat for 360 bucks shipped so try them.

Well, if you replace your stock cat, then typically there is a hole where the O2 sensor should be. Since, you have a new cat (usually a hi-flow resonator, like with the HP Racing Header), there is no sensor anymore. Something needs to send the right signals to the ECU otherwise the CEL will stay on and that's where the O2 Sim comes in.

With the HP Race W/Hi flo cat there actually is a bung for the second o2 sensor. And i've had mine installed for almost 2yrs and it only threw a CEL untill i reset the ecu 2x. No problems since.

well for some of us.. the light never shuts off.. so i went to teh extreme and built an o2 simulator.. im gonna be making a few more so i can make a few extra $$ on the side.. PM me if you are interested.. i already have abour 5 ppl interested in these, i have it in my car, been about 2 weeks, no check engine light, and gas mileage is slightly up

actually mine takes advantage of the heat sensor on the o2 sensor.. you just gotta splice this into the power, and connect the box that i made into the o2 sensor wire.. and detach the old one...
