that's a good recovery..
have you used a spiral max?
how do you think the tornado compairs? (if you tried it)
i think i'm going to buy both, T. by the filter, SM by the throttle body!

If I'm not mistaken, we have an electronic govenor. This would mean that you need to have your ECU reprogrammed to remove or raise it. I do know that you can actually remove the rev limiter on our car, but why you'd want to do that, I don't know. You won't get any more power out of a crappy D17 @ 8000 RPM.

ya i called up a local speed shop and he said the gov is in the ECU so you would have to get a new custom ECU $$$$$ or get ur ecu programed for track use only (ya right track us only) he didnt know were to get it done
Chuckle......OK kids here we go. The car is speed limited by the ECU. You can either go with an after market one, or get yours flashed. Those are your only two options. As for the tornado HAAAAAAAAAAAAA. You MIGHT notice a difference if you had a carbureted car since the mixing happen in the carburetor and the tornado would help to mix the fuel. But you have a fuel injected car there Einstein. Meaning you swirly air just goes into the cylinder like non swirly air where the fuel is then injected in. If you think you notice a difference then you "butt dyno" needs recalibrated. Maybe you need more stickers.
Erm, couldn't you just put a switch on the "speed sense" wire and shut off the ECU's ability to see the speed?
Course maybe the ECU will think "humm we were going 125 and now we are going 0, AIRBAG DEPLOY"
Slump

I had to tell my friend this same thing last weekend. He still didn't believe me. And butt dynos aren't very reliable.

butt dyno is never reliable... its called the placebo effect, you know you installed something so you are gonna expect gains, so your mind pretty much makes up the gain (cuz you don't wanna be dissapointed)... butt dyno would actually be more accurate if you never knew about the mod in the first place...

this guy doesn't know what he's talking about!!
tornado/spiral max DOES work on a fuel injected car. the "swirly" effect pulls air down the air tube going into the throttle body. i've been to an expo where this was demenstrated.
the guy had a clear tube, and their was a small perpellar that was suspended on a nail in the bottom of the tube. it was hooked to a air flow meter. when the vaccum was turned on, the perpellar hardly even spun. the cfm's were like 125. when the tornado was applied to the top of the tube, the perpellar started spinning like mad!! the cfms jumped to like 700!!
so don't listen to the drunk monkey, he's full of it!!!
these things work, and they add air flow and fuel atomizing propertys that surpass that of just a air pipe.
worth the money!!(in my opion)
imp: You are correct, if it actually worked and gave you proper swirl it would increase your cfm. BUT!! think about how awesome it will be when one of those blades break off and chews your valves/pistons to hell, and spits it out your tailpipe... Now that is what they dont tell you.
But hey think of it this way...you'll look cool shooting sparks out your tailpipe!

why would the fin break off? all the air pushing against it?
i'm sure they thought of that when they built the thing, and besides it's stainless steel.
i don't think it'll have any problems.

Yea, hes also testing it on a nail, and friggin pipe, not a d17 motor, it might work so so, but you dont feel anything, its called power of suggestion, you think its adding power cuz they say it is, If you want to see my point, and a few other members point, go get it dynoed with and with out that POS mod, you might see 1hp gain if that, or maybe even lose power. i think theres enought members on this site, that know more then you could image about cars, and they would all agree,

the nail had a prop on it, so you can see the movement of air in the tube. i think i will get one and dyno test it. (yeah right. i'm not spending the money to show you what a dumbass you are) and there is a change of HP in the positive. i have 4 friends that have purchased the spiral max, and i've ridden in all their cars/trucks before and after installation. let me tell you,(smart guy) it made a noticable difference when the throttle is mashed!! but talk all the crap you want, you always do. you never have anything good to say, just negitive input. (or is it output) don't buy the "POS mod," i wouldn't want you to change your high intelect and superior knowledge of cars.
