rewired taillamps??

hello!!

i have a question!
has anyone switched their brakelights with their turn signal?

i saw this and thought it was sweet!!

now i tried to do this myself, but when i switched them, i connected the parking wire and the brake wire together, then wired them into the turn signal........this was wrong!
it looked realy sweet when i turned the lights on, the turn signal (a giant 'C') looked sweet!!

heres the problem.........

when the brakes are applied, the front turn signals come on, along with the dash lights!!
this isn't the real problem.........the brake lights have two(2) fillements,(one for parking lights, one for brake) the turn signal only has one, hence at night, i don't have brake lights!!

one of my friends says that i can put a diode in the +line of the turn signal(now the brake/parking) this would stop the turn signal (front) and the dash lights from coming on due to brake switch, the problem is that i still have no brake lights!!

has anyone done this? any help would be...........well, helpful.

thanks
~the king (needs help)

i did it 6 months ago ............ but i don't have my car right now ........ she's @ the body shop

all you need to do is cut the the (+) wire (i forgot which one for the brake light wire) from the signal light and brake light and switch it (brake wire to signal wire and signal wire to brake wire) ...............and you do not have to cut the Black (Ground (-) wires) ....... THAT's IT

MAKE SURE you cut the right one ........ you can use voltmeter to test the right wire (hit the brake while you test it)

hopefully it help...............

so right now i have brake light on the top and parking/signal light on the bottom

i have mine ENTIRELY switched...including eliminating the side light... but NOT gonna say how i did it... im a jerk like that, it looks TOOOO tight, ive NEVER seen another tailight that lights up like mine... SO RAW... ALL kinds of 7th gen owners ask me about it, and im like ... "tight, isnt it?".. and they are like, "how'd you do it?", and im like, "they're stock from australia"... gotta throw off the haters... MAYBE if someone was in a whole different state i would show em how... lets just say VERY VERY VERY VERY little of my lights are on while i have tailights on........

alright.....

i thought about what YS said.......this would work, but it's not the effect i want. i want my 'C's (on the tail light lights; brake) to be dark, except on turn signal only! the squares to be parking and brake.

this is hard because the brake and parking light has two(2) fillaments.

as of now i have switched my parking light (wire) on the brake light, and switched it with my turn signal. (wire)

this resulted in half-of what i want.......the turn signal has become the parking light. ('C's are dark in the dark) the 'C's now light when the brakes are pressed, or when the turn signal is active.

i noticed that the signal flashes twice as fast also. (cool....i guess)

any one else have an idea?

whoa!..............
*caution*

i went out to check my lights, (night time here) and i noticed that the way these are wired, (parkig to turn, turn to parking) when you press the brake, wile the turn signal on, the turn signal is overpowered buy the brake light.(the turn signal uses the parking lamp) this should not be a problem........unless you are turning on a hill, .....in front of a cop...

good luck.......

if anyone has a theroy on the light change i am looking for, (brake and parking light where turn signal is, turn signal on 'c's only) please let me know.........
thanks,
~the king

When you did this did your signals blink faster (hyper) or remain at the normal stock blinker rate?

True, but I'd like the brake light to be on as a parking light as well. So rewiring is necessary.
