O2 Sim = Lose or Regain Power???

I'm getting mixed signals on this one so far. I have an HP Racing Header w/ Hi-flow Cat installed on my '01 EX. Haven't had a chance to install the O2 sim yet, so the Check Engine Light has been on for some time now. Not worried about that, but some peeps say that leaving the O2 Sim off is robbing my engine of power cuz' it's making up for thinking there's no cat. Other peeps say that having the O2 Sim installed will disable the VTEC, thus robbing power as well. So does anyone know FOR SURE? Thanx!

it will not disable vtec... who ever told you that is full of it. I used to have the o2 sim and it worked great.. when the CEL is on the engine is in a "safe" mode so its not getting all the right fuel maps, etc. with the 02 sim, it will simulate the signal from the 2nd o2 sensor depending on your RPM and your throttle position. It has nothing to with VTEC... come to think of I think when the CEL is ON it disables VTEC so maybe that is what they meant. I say install the sim, reset your ECU, and you'll be good to go....

HYPR DRV,

can you please tell me where you got your HP Race header with high-flow cat? I too have an '01 EX (coupe) and would like to purchase this part.

Thank you much,

Terry

Well, I was cruising around on Ebay one day and saw someone selling a brand new Header with the downpipe and hi-flow resonator for pretty cheap. Turns out the guy was from Columbus, so I just convinced him to close the auction early and I met him down the street. So I guess I got lucky. My advice would be to try Ebay, or if you want something more reliable, go to some of the vendors' sites on this forum. A lot of peeps can help you out on where to find it at a good price. Good luck!! Best mod I have so far!!

That's kinda what I was hoping to hear. Thanks man. It's hard to know who to trust up in here.
