Increased Exhaust Piping (2.25")

CapYoda said it won't make a difference and 1.75" is good enough. I find this hard to believe. Should I spend the 70 bucks on 2.25" piping? What are you guys' experience with it? Increase in mid and top end?

its not worth the money in my opinion. whatever u gain in top end u lose in low end. and u need the low end because our cars barely has any torque and that torque that we have now is what keeps up with dohc's for the first 2 or beginning of third gear. think about the power of the car now stock with air box, and 1.75 piping, its balanced by honda. we need the back pressure for the torque. because whats high end gains without torque to push it up there. thats my experience...

Are you doing a N/A tune or turbo.... turbos can always use the added flow... but i have to agree, N/A needs back pressure.

My brothers track times speak for themselves.

15.6 at 88 with AEM intake, header, 2.25 exhaust, UR pullies. LX non-vtec.

He now has 2.5 on there for the turbo going on soon.

My take do the 2.25

well I said the difference are minimal.

I'm thinking 1-2 hp difference.. taking from the low end and to the top..

sure with other mods it'll help.. but I remember u said you only had a SRI.. so I didn't think it was worth it. (edit: n/m that was that other dude)

but like I said. a lot of people on this site has aftermarket exhaust with bigger tubbing.. namely 2.25 or 2 3/8 inches... do they claim amazing increase? or do they usually just say "I think I feel a bit more in the top end"

so yeah.

a turbo setup, a 2.25 or 2.5 inch tubbing should definitely be considered.

its up to you. I am pretty darn sure you wont be able to tell the increase, if any.

15.6 at 88 is with an lx and with just those mods are pretty darn good. what tires was he running and other condition? altitude, temp?

I still dont really think the 2.25 inch factor much into his ET. sound like he's just a really good driver. or net a really nice 60 ft. time.

I think breathing is key... my friend's 2k2 LX auto sedan has Aem SRI, matrix EX header, and 2.25" piping and i just have SRI and exhaust and he stomps me (not only off the line) but all the way to 60 (fastest we went so far) Before he got piping, i pulled on him a little (like half a car) through out the race. After piping I say he'd gain a car and a half on me and stay that way

Yeah . .little or no increase. Like everyone says. if you are getting some forced induction then go bigger, but if you are just running an intake and or headers. . 1.75 is good. .

so many people say its not worth it...i keep spening money too fast and it goes so fast...im wondering if i should spend the 100 to get 2" piping or just spend 40 to just put on my muffler with stock piping....what do you think? my muffler still alows for backpressure

well what can I say.

if you feel that the stock is too small and that bigger tubing with more flow will help.

then go for it. its your money.

me, I wont try to fool myself into thinking an intake, header, and exhaust will make my civic any much faster than stock.

I haven't seen a single dyno that would suggest otherwise.

everyone that had I/H/E and dynoed their car.. recieve numbers too close to stock that its sad.
