Where to start? Well, I was just thinking today that I'm going to replace the stock alternator wire with a 4 AWG one for better performance (which incidentally is a PITA! Honda tapes the living shiznet out of their wiring harnesses). I finally start to take a wrench to the alternator bolt - but neglect to see that there is a lock nut BEHIND the lug - since it is sunk in a plastic bushing. Turn, turn, snap! Oh shiznet. I broke the stud off from the alternator. Thought about tearing the alternator apart and seeing about fixing it that way, but looking in the Helm manual - its a bear of a job to tear apart. Just than I remembered I had some of the infamous JB weld in my toolbox. A quick search on the net says it is non-conductive, which is a good thing.
Well, 7 hours later after gently bolting the new 4 gauge power wire up - I crank her over - NO PROBLEMS! I think the voltage is a smidgen low, of course due to the fact that I sheared the stud. BUT it will hold and get me around until I can either A) get a new high output alternator or B) get to the junk yard and get a replacement.
Man, talk about stressed.....My story of the day. Time for a
