Lift up on sectiong of panelling around e-brake. It's held together with only clips. Don 't be afraid to pop them.
You'll see two screws where that panel and the section around the shifter meet. Removed them. ALSO, remove two screws at the base of the center console in the rear. And remove the clips in the same corresponding place up front. (Push in center of clip with something narrow, then pull entire clip out.)
Remove the shift **** by popping the boot off (If I remember correctly), then unscrew the ****.
Now you can lift the entire center console off the floor. Once done, you can flip it over and see the (I think six) screws that hold the shifter section of the center console to the base of the console.
Also, you'll see the tabs that hold the silver trim ring in place around the shift boot. I think I just used my fingers to gently move the tabs out to pop the ring off.
Hope this helps.
