leather installation

I plan on getting a leather kit for my sedan and i want to install myself. i rad a diy an basically al it said was remove the seats, remove the o rings, remove the cloth, put the leather on, reinstall o rings. This is not informative at all. My questions are: is it hard to do? what tools do i need? where can i get the tools? Hw long will it take? how do i do it? If i screw it up, how much does roffessional installation cost?

Thanks
Chris

dood I was in a body shop class in highschool and I did it like 6 times..
trust me if you have some common sense you can do it by yourself. the corvette stingray seats were the easiest to do (they are so tiny) but I never did like our principal why id he have 2 vettes? oh well I dont like chevys anyhow.. He didn't even have the original engine in the stingray! it was like a v6 corvette!

Umm its not as easy as people make it out to be. the door panels are extremely hard, which you would think would be a joke to install, but theyre not. You can do it yourself but plan on spending an entire day and probably screwin up once or twice.

I know you definately need the hog ring pliers/puller. thats a given. Not sure what else, look around the net, there's gotta be a DIY out there for one car or another that could help you out. Or call an upholstery place and check to see what basic tools they use that youll need.

Ok, I got a leather kit for my car and right now I will tell you to do the door panels last. The seats are kinda easy but very very very time consuming. You will need a hogring puller. Needle nose pliers will work fine also. If you don't mess up the hogrings while taking them out, you can use those same ones when putting the leather on. All you need is hogring puller/needle nose pliers, hogrings, screwdriver, a knife/scizzors (I don't remember how to spell that, lol), and the glue that you spray from a can for the door panels.

I've been working on the kit for about a week and a few days mainly because of my work hours. The door panels are the hardest to install. When you start, start with the backseat, then the passenger seat, then your seat. I'm still working on my door panels because I just can't seem to get it right. I have to take a trip to Wal-Mart and get some black leather material because like I said, those door panels are a b*t*h. You can do the back and front seats all in one day. PM me if you have anymore questions, I'll help with anything I can.

Oh yea, before I forget, when you take the front seats out, you will have to unplug two things sensors under both seats which are for seat belt and something else. WHen you unplug those and put them back in, your SRS light might come on because of that. You will have to reset the sensor by following the DIY we have on the site under the electronics section.
