A HID Question
Hi guys, I just need info regarding HID. Let's say I buy a H4 kit and later on I want to move the kit to my next car which uses H1 or something else, can I just buy a new pair of bulbs and still use the previous ballast and wiring? Thx in advance
How bout this, pay 150-200 dollars extra to get TYCs or Angel Eyes and then put H1 HIDs into it. You do have to do some work to fit it but it would be worth it. You get headlight housings that look 100 times better and you will be able to fit the H1s into your next car if it has H1s (cause TYCs and Angel Eyes have H1 size bulbs).
BTW, what car are you planning to get that has H1s?

blackcivic28: thx for the prompt reply. The point of my question is whether we can move a HID kit to another car by just changing the bulbs to let's say H4 to H1 without buying a new set of ballast.

I just bought Audi S4 projectors and ballasts for my Sonar Black Halo Projectors. For anyone considering the swap, the projectors are about 99% identical. I'd recommend an OEM retrofit over an HID "kit" From what I've heard the color of the HID's are controlled by the concave projector and the "light prism" effect it has. Lower lumens actaully are brighter while color is contolled by the projecter and it's shape. The best are Audi, BMW X5, and the S2000's. Just my .02 Dallis
While lower lumens are generally brighter, it varies depending on the manufacturer as well.
Generally, 4000K - 6000K is going to be the brightest you can get. 8000K (which is what I have retrofitted into my TYC projectors) carry a bluish tint, and aren't quite as bright - but still MUCH brighter than stock halogen bulbs, or even the Xenons. There was a group buy on the HID kits for $365 shipped, whatever bulb you wanted, and there's also a group buy for TYC projectors and tails, so you could easily get a really good deal for HID projectors.
If you're interested and wanna know how to do it, lemme know - I can post some pictures as well of how it looks
