Short bit on how it works

Found this on a site, where they compare a little between the prius and civic.
Should help us "get it" more when it comes to hybrids - i think we are all still learning.

The competing Honda Civic Hybrid works a little differently: The electric engine kicks in for more power on hills or when you put the pedal down for sharp acceleration. The Honda is rated at 46 mpg for city driving, 51 mpg on the highway. Honda's two-seater hybrid Insight, both lighter and less practical than the Civic and Prius, gets the highest mileage ratings--61 mpg in the city, 68 mpg on the highway. In all these cars, both gas and electric engines shut off at stoplights or other full stops. Once you get used to that total mechanical silence during red lights, driving a hybrid is much like any other car.

Thanks. This is pretty interesting. I like how the The electric engine kicks in for more power on hills and for faster acceleration. That's a good idea. Why do they cut completely off at red lights? Does it take long for them to start back up?

Cuts off at lights to save fuel of course!
Normal cars start up straight away so i assume this is no different, its probably even quicker.
Nice idea i think, as long as it doesnt have problems starting all the time.
