Technical Question

I just bought a new Comptech header and exhaust for my 99 Honda Civic Si. It said that I should tighten the bolts down to the header w/ 26 ft/lbs of torque, but I can't get my wrench in there. Is it good enough if I just tighten them reasonably tight?

Second question, my exhaust is rattling against the factory heat shields, should I just take off the heat shields or is there something else to do?

Thanks for any info that you all can give me.

I think it would be ok to tighten them reasonably tight a way to check is to start your car up and feel for any leaks comeing around the mount and if you smell any exhaust fumes when you turn your vent on could be another sign of it needed to be tighten more.

I wouldnt take off the heat shield i mean it there to protect, i would try to adjust the exhaust by the rubber gromits or remove the heat shield but wrap that part of the exhaust in that heat resistant exhaust wrap.

The vibrating isn't by the header, it is under by the resonator. So do you think I still need to remove the heat shield?
Thanks for your help.

heat shields are soft... just bang it a little and move it in the area where it hits... or take out that pipe and heat wrap it like gone in 60 said... and then you could take out the heat shield...
