Clutch Problem...
Hello all,
I'm new to the site and would appreciate your insight/suggestions as to the cause of my Honda's problem... I have a 2004 CIVIC SI that I bought new. Alot of highway driving - I've put 102,000 kms on it in just over 1.5 years. I've had problems with the following issue since about 30,000 kms and Honda can't find the problem. A reoccuring squeak accompanied by a slight 'crunch' when depressing the clutch pedal near the top of the release. Temperature doesn't seem to play factor. Both master and slave cylinders have been changed. The fork and bearing have been changed and all areas lubricated including the pedal. The problem is always remedied for a short period of time but returns (relentlessly). It's becomming very irritating - both the problem and the fact that Honda can't diagnose. Anyone encountered this?

I used to have weird clutchness problem. IMOHO:
Sounds to me like a lot of different things happening.
whatever stops it after maintenance means if belts or timings or lubrications is the problem, it's a supplemental mechanism that is working the squeak and "grab". That's why it takes time to recur.
That mean maybe alignment or something else is bearing down and the clutch mechanism and/or pedal is paying the brunt of it. This is a sympton of something else. A lot of highway driving might mean disposition of the physical engine case inside the chassis.
I used to have depression in the brake pedal that zigged and zagged between the primary and secondary brake cyldiners. That was fun.
I woul say road test this again and see what else is rpesent in the driving when it happens.
Are the shoks taking a lot of action? Are the axles working up and down bumps or rises or declines? is the steering constant or does the squeak and crunch ocurr when certain steering trends co-exist like turning, straight driving, or (whatever elements push around the clutch pedal mechanism).
Sounds like a physical problem that could get worse.

Clutch Problem...
Thanks all for your comments/suggestions as to possible problem.
Turns-out that the Master Clutch Cylinder is shot (again).
Reoccuring issue.
Makes me wonder... has Honda improved the part since the bulletin was issued last year?!
