CRX Si

Am I the only one who misses the Civic CRX? That was such a great little car. It was like a turbo roller skate. She never gave me any problems, didn't cost a lot to maintain, and got great gas mileage.

Well, I had an 86 Civic SI 3 door hatchback with the 1.5 ltr engine. The car weighed so little I was able to beat from a red, cars that should have been much faster.

That car I miss but it did not have AC.

On the highway though, it surely was a death trap as the metal was so thin I could have poked a hole through it with my finger.

I have pics if you want to see her

I'd love to see pictures. I'm sure I have pictures of my old CRX in the photo albums somewhere too that I could scan in. My CRX had custom rims and small fat tires. It hugged curves so well. But, you're right, it wasn't the safest car. I'm surprised my passenger and I walked away unhurt when a truck ran a red light, hit my rear fender, and spun the car. He left the scene and my car was totaled.

They're still making the CRX arent they?
I saw a convertible one. They are a completely different car now, look nothing like the old models.

No. They haven't made the CRX in years. Mine was a 1987. The Del Sol replaced the CRX. It was a cute little thing with a t-top. Yes, there is a Honda convertible, the S2000 Roadster, but iI don't think it's a Civic.

Oooo! Have fun. I don't think it needs a boost. I think mine was stock under the hood and it ran great and was so fast. I had trouble with the fuel injector indicator light, but no one could ever figure out why. My CRX was tinted, lowered, with fat squatty tires and rims when I bought it.

give it a little boost? i wish youwere talking about like 8 p.s.i. of boost.. btu i'm guessing not... those cars, if you pull off the cover on the little resonator that sitts on top of the intake manifold, it releases some restriction... also, the part of the intake that goes across the radiator, i took that out of my second gen civic.. made it sound a little deeper, and seemed to help a little w/ power.. of course you could always go get a cold air intake... but i've never owned one on 6 cars, i just always mod the intake.. the thing that seems to work best is to take off the air box, and get a cone filter adapter and do that... next, get a 35K ohm resistor, and replace your air intake temp. sensor w/ it... this makes the ecu think it is the ideal temp. outside.. i'm not positive if this mod will work, but if it has an air intake temp sensor w/ 2 wires, it will... that is a good starting point, and you will only spend a dollar..i would guess maybe 5hp out of all that...

isnt it a bit risky messing around with the sensors?
If something goes wrong it could really mess things up.
