test drove the new si today!

the car was very nice!!
overall, i loved almost everything about it
the engine was very quiet though, not what i expected....although very powerful
i could feel the tourque even in 5th gear, unlike my ex, where i have to floor it just to get it movin!
the shifter was very comfortable, as well as the steering wheel.
it was very roomy inside, bigger than my ex
i would consider trading in my car for the si, if it wasnt so overpriced!
overall, it was a nice car, but just not worth the money.
i would much rather spend a few g's for the Type S!!

Yea i am thinking of getting one when i get my liencese back but the price is what is making me rethink it, i want the rsx but insurance will be way to high, so i might just have to try and get the best deal on a SI.

It all depends on where you are. They're selling like hotcakes around here.

i would not agree with that statement at all!
the tourque on that engine, feels twice as powerful as our D blocks..
the only reason why it maybe not feel as powerful would be because of the engine being so quiet....
there was absolutely no noise coming from that hood at all!
the sales person that took me on the ride, let me open it up on the freeway, so yea, i redlined that sucker in every gear till i hit 5th!
it was nice, the pickup on that even in 4 and 5th gear is amazing compared to our slow @$$ civ....
but all in all, still wasnt worth the $

I have only seen one on the road in my city, and the dealership nearby has 6.
I was wondering how others liked them because there are only 4 with pics in the
member's rides. They don't seem to be doing that well

iI don't mean to **** in anyones Cheerios but, I drove the SI the day I traded in my 2k1EX, and i thought it in NO way lived up to all the hipe. It didn't feel much quicker than my EX with aem cai and hp header and high flow cat. Not to mention it is ugly as all hell. I bought a Golf GTI, much better car. Germans know what they're doing...

301CiViC5, did you really redline in every gear when you test drove it? Because damn that is cool. I never drove it that fast when I test drove it. If I redline it in 4th gear though, I am going about 105-110mph, did you really drive it that fast? That's cool.

It is nice to see some people posting about liking the car. When I read online forums, people are always talking badly about the new Si. However, I have always gotten compliments on mine and people are always wanting to look at it, and they think it is a really fly car. Truthfully, compared to the 99-00 Civic Si Coupe, I used to like those better. I previously drove a 99 Civic DX. Then after I test drove the 02 Si, I test drove two different 00 Si's. One was pretty much stock still and the other had DC Headers, 17" Honda Rims, and an STS(I think that was the brand) exhaust. Although it was annoying because the exhaust was extremely loud, I was still not impressed by its performance like I was with the 02 Si. That was my deciding factor in purchasing a new 2002 Si. But a lot of people still talk crap about it. I think those people need to actually drive it to see for themselves. It is not the only car around that looks weird. A lot of newer cars that are coming out look weird. Truthfully, I hated everything about the 96-00 Civics until I finally decided to buy a 99 Civic DX, looked a lot like the Si, and then I didn't like the 2001 Civics. However, now I think the 7th generation Civic's look really nice. It is just too bad that they, except for the Si, do not respond that well to mods.

I just bought a 2002 Si for $15,888 (before T&L etc) in the bay area. They're out there. My insurance didn't go up at all. I was driving an 88 CRX Si and just switched. Got some 'discount' for getting a newer car. Whatever.
I test drove the car twice before I bought it... Didn't especially care for the exterior of the car initially, but it was the interior of the thing that sold me. It drives like a dream. I think I got a decent deal on the car, and don't regret the purchase in the least. Now, the next challenge.... start the new mods
