2002 Civic SI

I went to a car show yeasterday in Atlanta at a Honda Dealership where they had a Dyno on site. They put a brand new SI of the show room floor on it and the horsepower was amazing. The first run put it at 142 at the wheels. The second run it made 155.4 at the wheels with 132 ft lbs of torque. I was just amazed at the fact of how underrated those cars are.

Here is a picture of the print out of the Dyno.

Yes those cars do put out a good amount of power. Even more if you go with I/H/E. Honda detuned the engine a lot.

Yep, my car is rated at 150 but all the dyno's I have seen put them anywhere from 150 to 156.
Now, Honda could have the same varience for the SIR but, I know a guy who works as a mechanic for a Honda dealer in town, and he just bought an SIR. He agree's, it is not true. That would put the SIR's actual power at about 185! Uh, uh. BTW, I test drove one too, it doesn't have 185hp, it doesn't have 170hp. I am not trying to be a a$$, just pointing out some misinformation.
And for the record, I like the car when I drove it, it feels similar to my car in many ways. They look a lot better with better wheels and tires and 1-1-1/2 inches lower.

i drove an Si also. it does have around 150hp at the wheels. it also depends on where u dyno it also. like here where i live at sealevel dayonta beach, fl. it will have more power that what it would have in saltlake city, utah. 5000 feet up. so there will be alot of variations.

You know that drivetrain loss is around 15-20% for a FWD car right. So you are saying that the SIR is 185hp?!
And how does a car dyno at 142 the first time then 155 the second time unless the operator does not know what they are doing. 142 is a little generous but factory error could be that much.

on domestics a loss of 15-20% is common but on most imports a loss of only 10-15 is common. i have seen a civic ex dyno at 105 the first time then 111 then 116. so there is alot of factors. and i say the factory is lowering what hp the Si actually has. bc if it is closer to the typeS then the acura wont look so good.

A Camaro would probably be around 20%, a civic around 15%, I have yet to see a car come close to 10%. And how do you explain this?

155.4 hp to the wheels and 132 lbs of torque is so far from amazing it hurts. truly amazing is when a car is so powerful the dyno breaks.

I know a Honda mechanic locally who just bought a SIR and who posts frequently on ephatch forum. He has confirmed that the SIR is 160hp at the crank stock, and should dyno around what I said earlier. High 140's would be more than a factory freak and the drivetrain just isn't that effecient
