Steering
Steering
I'm a first time foriegn car owner who has recently purchased a 04 civic lx coupe. One thing is driving me crazy is that the car seems to follow the road. You can feel the wheel shift annoyingly but slightly from side to side on older roads. It has only 50k with new brakes. I've even taken it to a alignment shop and it checked tight and straight. My friends 99 doent seem to do the same. Is this common or is this a Honda thing I'm not use to?

Re: Steering
could be the tires are unevenly worn and causing pull. i had the same problem with the crappy factory tires on my 02. replaced those and havent had a problem since. you might be able to see just be measuring the tread depth of each tread in the tires. see if they are all the same or is the inside or outside worn out more than the middle. could also be caused by bad shocks, they rarely last more than 50k miles.
Re: Steering
I have two sets of tires and wheels and it does it with both sets. Shocks makes sense but I'm blown away about possibly needing shocks. I switched to Honda from Pontiac because all I've heard was change the oil gas it and go 200k.

Re: Steering
there is no way any car will make it to 200k on just oil changes. esp regular wearable items like tires, shocks, brakes, belts, fluids, etc and a huge variety of other parts that could fail for no reason. cars are too complicated.
