Good deal for preventive maintenance?
Good deal for preventive maintenance?
I have an 01 civic ex. It's got 105k miles, so I need to get some maintenance done on it. The local honda dealership gave me a quote for $730 for the following:
-All belts change (timing, alternator..)
-water pump change
-replace all oil seals (crank, cam, etc...)
-inspect and adjust valves
-replace valve cover gasket
-full inspection of car for anything else
The fact that it's from a dealership also means that I get a nice honda warranty on all the work, and all parts will be genuine honda parts.
Is it worth it to do this, or is it a complete rip off and I should check out some private mechanics?
thanks

Re: Good deal for preventive maintenance?
its not a Complete rip-off. Im getting exactly the same thing done at the moment with a private mechanic for 600, no warranty though. I was thinking I could get mine done even cheaper still, its about 5-6 hours labor, and the parts altogether should run more than 100-150. this mechanic just happens to be very conveniently located. Shop around unless you relly want the warranty id say
