How to take care of your civic

Hey everyone!

Just bought an 02 EX last week. I was wondering what tips you guys have to take care of your civics, as I want mine to go past 200k miles!

I don't mean general take-car-of-your-car tips, change the oil, etc. I was thinking more civic-specific if you get the idea.

Thanks!!!

Re: How to take care of your civic

Civics will go past 200k no problem. My 02 has 156k on it and I've done nothing but normal maintanance. Just keep your oil clean, timing belt changed when it is supposed to be, etc. and you'll be good.

Is your car an auto or manual? How many miles?

Re: How to take care of your civic

take care of the automatic transmissions. they're picky, especially at high mileage.

Your timing belt is likely due soon as well. Do the water pump as well because timing belt is labour intensive and it is worth it to change the pump while it's taken apart rather than have it go later and have to do it all over again.

I would say that the best way besides all the great advice above is by keeping it off that RED LINE on the tach.

Typically you should do the water pump at the same time since it is hard to get if it goes out.

Re: How to take care of your civic

You can easily do 200k miles if you just take care of it. Changing oil, brake pads, etc

Near impossible, more like it. My 03 EX never goes past 4500, even flooring it.
