Cool Civic Compression Problems

My friend brought me his Honda Civic. He had overheated the car badly. He replaced the gasket and had the head reworked but when he put it back together it would just spin when he tried to turn it over. I pulled it back apart and replaced the head gasket again, checked the valves (good), checked the pistons and cylinders for cracks/holes/leaks, and everything looks good. I put it back together and I am still getting zero compression on all four of the cylinders. Not sure where to go from here??? Any ideas?

Re: Civic Compression Problems

did you check the head off the car to be sure the valves are sealing properly?

Re: Civic Compression Problems

Is the mechanical timing set correctly?

Do a leak down test to figure out where compression is lost.

He did a leak down test and the timing is good. Baffled.

Re: Civic Compression Problems

If a leak down test was done, then where was compression lost?

Re: Civic Compression Problems

He said there was a little loss in the exhaust side but not enough to have zero compression.

Re: Civic Compression Problems

Sounds like the compression test was done incorrectly because it is conflicting with the leak down test.
