Will the 2011 Civic be an 8th generation or not
I saw a lot of civivdaves links when searching, but not much else though.
Anyone know if the 2011 Civic will be an extra year of production for the 8th gens or will it be a new model 9th generation ??
I have been considering buying a new 8th gen, most likely an LX S... BUT, if they are going to hold onto the 8th gens design for another year ( the previous generation Corolla recently went an extra year) I may hang onto my 05 for another year if they are extending production.
Not sure if the dealer would be honest, they want to sell cars NOW
Thanks

I'm not sure but you might as well wait and see. Its not like the 05 is going to crap out or anything.

Re: Will the 2011 Civic be an 8th generation or not
The car averages 500 miles per week, it is in perfect condition and has had all maintenance performed to date...the problem is if I keep the car I will need to do the timing belt & associated items very soon, it will need a valve adjustment and the 80k rated Michelins will be at 66k at payoff. It is currently still using the original battery.
I hate buying/selling or trading in cars, the KBB trade in value is about $5k the private party value is around $7k but I would have to discount the price to a private party for the timing belt work that would be needed & I don't want to deal with people and their BS & crappy credit trying to sell it. The dealer would have to offer the full $5k, that is yet to be determined though they say they will.
If I save the car payment $ after it is paid off it will amount to $3600 per year. I use it for work & the amount varies month to month.
I need the car daily & want to avoid putting in a bunch of money into it for not a lot more time and then get rid of it still anyway.
If the 8th gens are going to hold out for 1 more year of production I would certainly consider keeping it another year though.

Re: Will the 2011 Civic be an 8th generation or not
It's very likely that 11 will be the 9th generation Civic because:
1. Ever since the 6th gen, the Civic has been a 5 year car.
2. The last two years of the 6th and 7th gen received a facelift. The 8th gen got theirs for 09 and 10. It's doubtful they'll carry it another year.
3. I'm confident I'm right.
I have a feeling the 9th generation is going to look similar to the 8th.
