strange dash light problem
this is on an 83 toyota pickup first off. the dash lights were working perfectly before i did anything, but the truck wouldnt start due to corroded battery terminals. so thinking this will be an easy job, i removed the terminals and cleaned them with sand paper. the terminals never touched anything or each other the whole time, they were just hanging in the air. i put them back on the battery with some dielectric grease, the truck starts up no problem and is running great again. the only problem seems to be there are no dash lights at all. gauges, temp dials, etc are all black when the park lights are on. even the radio is completely dead. now remember, there was no sparking or any weird things that happened during my cleaning. i thought maybe somehow a fuse blew for no reason but when i checked, all the fuses were good! now what? i find it hard to believe that simply disconnecting and reconnecting battery can cause so much problem. ive done this many times on many different cars with no issues!!
Re: strange dash light problem
Sounds like some main fuse or something. Try checking all the fuses, even ones under the hood. Seems like the two arent really related..its an old truck so it cant be too complicated.

Re: strange dash light problem
yeah im gonna check the other fuses under the hood tomorrow but idk why i would even need to. the fuses under the dash already had "gauges" and "radio" which were good. and everything else works fine like dome light, exterior lights, and other stuff.
