Unhappy 2007 Civiv ex keeps Dying!

I'm not sure what to do but every time I come to a stop sign or slow down my car dies. It starts up fine but it feels like it cannot breathe. We changed the air filter...which was filthy b/c last time I got my oil changed they didn't lock it down..I know nothing about cars! The only thing I can explain is it feels like it can't breathe..I was in third gear taking it around base and it would go but it felt like something was holding it back and then it feels normal again..Can someone please point me in the right direction? My dad ran his thing for codes and no DTC (?) codes came back..I was not out of gas either lol.

Any feed back or help would be much appreciated.

P.S. My dad was wondering if anyone knew where the fuel filter is located?

Sincerely,
Rosa

fuel filter on most newer cars is part of the fuel pump and usually rated for 100k miles before it needs changing. on such a new car this is a weird problem. does the idle drop really low at a stop before the car shuts off? it could be a dirty idle air valve. prolly worth cleaning the throttle body (metal part where the air intake is connected to) and any valves around it that can be taken off. now if youre saying the air intake assembly was not closed properly, there could be engine damage. its hard to guess without driving the car tho.

Re: 2007 Civiv ex keeps Dying!

The dealer has been acting like a jerk. So I called Honda Care (we are @ 65k miles). Honda care told me that because my check engine like did come on today that under federal law (b/c my light is related to my emissions system) that the dealer HAS to diagnose it w/out charging b/c that light will prevent my car from passing smog (we live in the San Diego area). I took my car to a mechanic today and he told me to take it to the dealer b/c of the emissions issue still being covered under warranty and if the dealer wont work with me then threaten to call the Bureau of automotive repair. Uhg such craziness and I can't help but feel guilty..

And yes the idle does drop really low when when i come to a stop and before it dies...

i would like to thank you guys for the advice. I'm waiting to get a hold of the dealer so my car can get towed to a dealership. I will keep you guys informed.

Thanks,
Rosa

Okay so I just picked my car up from the mechanic on base. So last time I got my oil changed and they changed me air filter they didn't lock it and some big piece of material/fabric was blocking my mass air flow sensor (i think that's what the mechanic said it was). Anyways, that's all it was!!!! My car is fixed and running like a champ! It only cost $65.00 and that I can definietely live with.

So once again thank you so much for the replies, it means a lot to me and I really appreciate it! You guys rock!

Sincerely,
Rosa
