Trunk Holes Due To OEM Spoiler!

Okay I tried searching forum but didn't find I wanted to know.

So here's the deal: I bought a OEM Spoiler for my Black 05 Civic LX Sedan and had it placed/painted by the shop a month ago. I've been noticing lately and came up to the conclusion of removing it and staying stock because the spoiler light looks ridiculously stupid when I already have a break light, plus my car doesn't look the same as it did a month ago.

Now that guy in shop have drilled 4 holes, 2 on each sides. So when I removed it, a good chunk of paint came off from both sides of the trunk. Luckily the primer is black so u cannot notice from few feets away.

Currently I have placed it back to hide those, but I wanna get those holes filled up. I heard of bonding and icing methods, and obviously get the whole trunk re-painted, trust me touch up will not help.

So my question is, when I call up some shops, what should I ask them to do with the trunk? And how much of a quote can I expect?

Or if anyone has a 01-05 black Trunk they wanna sell me, please ask, I will be really interested!

True, but there's always a chance of Air or water sneaking in, and the area I live in gets rain like every other day. So I needed to have it permanently fixed. Looked on Ebay but all I found was Carbon Fiber trunks which I really do not want. Searched up some local junk yards but no luck!

Re: Trunk Holes Due To OEM Spoiler!

I had the H removed from my trunk and the holes filled in for $100. They have to actually weld in a new piece of metal over each hole because bondo would just crack up and fall out. That price was without paint, I was getting the entire trunk painted under warranty anyway so I added that in with it and paid the $100 difference.

Re: Trunk Holes Due To OEM Spoiler!

yeah the proper way is weld the holes, then repaint entire trunk. cheap way is find some plugs and paint it silver on top, then silicone it in place from the back.

Was the welding noticeable after the paint?

It should not be noticeable after it has been grind down.

Re: Trunk Holes Due To OEM Spoiler!

If you're removing it because of the light, black it out. Or just disconnect it so it doesn't light up.

Or just leave it, honestly who cares if you have an extra brake light?

Naah, it looked better as OEM. If in future I decide to get one it wud be a the lip style spoiler which is hardly noticeable and gives a better look.

@ DeX - Thanks for the pic man, that really helped!
