Hey guys,
I know this car has a d16y8 engine in it. I was wondering what other engines I can bolt up to my automatic transmission without any problems? The older generation ones, like a d15b? would they do fine? I bought this car with a blown engine and Im just looking for the cheapest way to get it running again. Thanks a lot for the help I really appreciate it

I have a 97 EX with a D16y7 in it.

If I were you, try to rebuild the engine, it is easy and the learning from the experience is amazing, if you can have an experienced honda builder help you that would be ideal, but if not, just start taking the engine apart.

What failed on the engine? timing belt snap? run dry on oil? it depends how BLOWN it is to decide weather it is worth rebuilding

I know for a fact that there are a ton of dead hondas in junkyards around my house with d16y7 and d16y8 in great condition.

definately look for the correct engine if you are not going to rebuild.
