Needing an answer

ok ive heard talk about a rev limiter... what exactly does it do and how will it help me out

If you press the gas down and dont shift, your rev limiter kicks in to cut off your engine from revving any faster. If you rev it higher, you will probably make more power, but its unsafe and unstable for your engine in its current stock form. So, if you disable the rev limiter, and forget to shift, you might be kissing your engine goodbye. All in all it helps you by keeping your engines RPM's within safe operating parameters.

Just as an FYI. The rev limiter cuts the fuel and ignition above the factory limit. Also as an FYI, just because you raise your rev limiter, doesn't mean you will make more more power. The stock cam is designed to make power in the RPM range the ECU is programmed for. You need a different cam to make power above 7200 RPMs.
